When the basics are shaky, everything after is hard
Foundation is Qlive's programme for children who have fallen behind or never quite got the basics. We find where the gaps start, then rebuild step by step, so the next chapter at school finally makes sense.
How Foundation works
- Step 1
Find the real starting point
The free assessment shows the level your child is actually secure at, which is often a grade or two below their class.
- Step 2
Rebuild, one level at a time
Each level has clear skills to master. Your child moves up only when the last level is solid, so nothing is left wobbly.
- Step 3
Practise until it's automatic
Short, frequent practice with activities, not pages of drills. Confidence comes from getting it right, again and again.
- Step 4
Catch up with the class
As the gaps close, the teacher connects the work back to what school is teaching, until your child is keeping pace.
Five subjects, same patient approach
Each track has its own levels, written for children learning in English-medium schools in India and abroad.
-
Maths
Number sense, place value, the four operations, fractions and early algebra. The building blocks every later chapter rests on.
-
English
Phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, grammar and writing a clear sentence, then a clear paragraph.
-
Arabic
From recognising and writing letters to reading words and short passages, for children in Gulf schools who started late or never felt confident.
-
Hindi
Varnamala, matras and reading, building towards the second-language syllabus in CBSE schools at home and abroad.
-
Malayalam
Reading and writing the script, for Kerala families abroad who want their children to keep their language.
"Your foundation course was very helpful for my son. He has shown great improvement. Thanks to the Qlive team and Mariam Ma'am for your friendly nature. My son felt very comfortable throughout."
About Foundation
Start with the free assessmentHow do I know if my child needs Foundation or regular tuition?
The free assessment tells us. If your child is secure at their grade level and needs help with current chapters, regular tuition fits. If the assessment finds gaps from earlier grades, Foundation rebuilds those first.
How long does the programme take?
It depends on how far back the gaps go and how many classes a week your child takes. Your Student Success Partner shares a realistic plan after the assessment and reviews it with you as your child moves through the levels.
Will my child fall further behind at school while doing Foundation?
No. Teachers link Foundation work to what your child is meeting in school, and many families combine Foundation with help on current chapters.
Which ages is it for?
Most Foundation students are between KG and Grade 6, but older students with gaps in basics, for example in fractions or reading, join too.
