Learning that starts with your child, not the textbook

Every Qlive student goes through the same five stages. What happens inside each one is different for every child, because it is built on what we find out first.

  1. 1 Understand
  2. 2 Plan
  3. 3 Teach
  4. 4 Assess
  5. 5 Review and adapt

Understand

First, we get to know your child

Before any class, we build an academic picture of your child: their school, curriculum and grade, what the school expects this term, upcoming tests, and what worries you.

Then comes the free assessment. A Qlive counsellor guides your child through about 40 adaptive questions that step back to earlier grades when an answer slips, so we find where understanding actually stops, not just which chapter feels hard.

  • Your child's school, syllabus and textbook
  • School reports or a recent test paper, if you have them
  • A live adaptive assessment, free
  • A conversation with you about the report

Plan

Then, we plan for your child

The plan comes from three places: what your curriculum expects, what your child's school is teaching this term, and what the assessment showed. If a gap from an earlier grade is holding things back, the plan starts with a short bridge before the main topics.

We match a teacher for academic reasons: subject expertise, familiarity with your exact curriculum, suitability for your child's level, teaching style, and availability at your times. Where it helps, they speak your family's language too.

  • A bridge for any earlier gap
  • Main topics in school order
  • Checkpoints built in
  • A teacher matched to the plan

Teach

Live one-to-one classes, built around doing

Classes are live and one-to-one, usually 60 minutes at the same time each week. Your child and the teacher talk on Google Meet, and the learning happens in Qlive Space, our AI-powered platform, where your child works through activities, writes and solves, and asks PenQ when stuck.

A class moves between clear explanation in your curriculum's terms, diagrams and worked examples, questions that check thinking as it happens, and practice your child does rather than watches. Teachers bring in tools like Desmos, GeoGebra or PhET simulations when they genuinely help.

  • One teacher, one student
  • A fixed weekly slot in your timezone
  • Interactive board, not static slides
  • A 45-minute demo class if you'd like to try first

Assess

Checking understanding all the way through

Assessment isn't just an exam at the end. Teachers question as they teach. The teacher and Qlive's academic team set classwork and worksheets in Qlive Pulse, and run a short timed checkpoint every two to three weeks. For some programmes, such as CBSE Grade 9 and 10 Maths and Science, there are term exams too, at no extra cost.

Screen questions are marked instantly. Written working is photographed and marked by the teacher or the academic team, with comments, and sometimes sent back for another try. Each answer shapes the next class: a dropped mark for rounding becomes a five-minute accuracy routine next time.

  • Classwork and worksheets
  • Checkpoints every 2 to 3 weeks
  • Written work marked with comments
  • Notices in the app when work is marked

Review and adapt

The plan changes as your child does

We keep checking that what your child learns with us is showing up at school. Teacher notes, your child's work, their own check-ins and upcoming school tests all feed back into the plan. Qlive's academic team reviews it, and your Student Success Partner talks it through with you.

If the school's questions turn out to be longer, or a new topic arrives early, the plan shifts. If a teacher change is ever needed, the new teacher gets a full handover of what has been taught and how your child learns best.

  • Regular progress check-ins
  • Plan updated before school exams
  • Full handover if a teacher changes
  • One Student Success Partner throughout

Questions about the process

Start with a free assessment
How quickly can classes start after the assessment?

Usually within a few days. Once you have seen the report and agreed a plan, we match a teacher who is free at your times and set up the weekly slot.

Can we meet the teacher before committing?

Yes. Ask for a 45-minute demo class with the recommended teacher. Where practical, the teacher you meet in the demo is the one who continues with your child.

What if the class time stops working?

Ask for a different time in the Qlive Learn app, or tell your Student Success Partner. Reminders before each class let you confirm or ask to change it.

Can you guarantee marks?

No academy can honestly guarantee a result. What we commit to is careful planning, consistent teaching, regular checking, and changing the plan when your child needs something different.

How do I see what's happening?

The Qlive Learn app shows the timetable and lets you chat with the teacher and the Qlive team for each class. You are told when work is assigned and when it has been marked, and your Student Success Partner checks in on progress.
