One-to-one tuition, from a team in Kerala

Qlive is based in Malappuram, Kerala, and India is one of our largest student groups. We teach children in Kochi, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thiruvananthapuram and the rest of Kerala, as well as in Bengaluru, Chennai and other cities. Our teachers have taught 1,00,000+ hours of live classes to families in 30+ countries.

Tuition is a normal part of school life in India, but most of it happens in batches, where one teacher works with a room of students at the same pace. In a one-to-one class, the teacher works only with your child, so the class goes back when something is shaky and moves on when it is solid.

Fitting classes around the school day

Most Indian schools run Monday to Friday, and many also have classes on some or all Saturdays. School usually finishes in the afternoon, and older children often have other tuition, sport or religious classes in the evening. That is why we start from the times that are actually free in your week. The common choices are an evening slot after school and a break, an early morning before school, or a weekend morning.

Before every class the Qlive Learn app asks you to confirm, change the time or skip that day, then sends reminders 15 and 5 minutes before with a button to join. The app shows the week’s classes in your own timezone and has a chat for each class with the teacher and the Qlive team.

The boards we teach

  • CBSE. About three in four Qlive students follow CBSE, so our teachers know the NCERT books and the board exam pattern well.
  • ICSE and ISC. With their heavier English and longer syllabi.
  • State boards. Kerala (SCERT), Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and others.
  • IGCSE and IB. For children in international schools in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi and elsewhere.

Tell us the school and class, and we match a teacher who teaches that board.

Board exams and Class 11

For most families, Class 10 and Class 12 board exams are the years that matter most. Teachers work through the syllabus with past papers and timed practice, and Pulse checkpoints every two to three weeks show which chapters are secure and which need more time. For CBSE Class 9 and 10 maths and science, term exams built from chapters already covered are included at no extra cost.

Class 11 is a big step up, particularly in the science stream, where physics, chemistry and maths become much harder almost at once. We teach physics, chemistry, biology, maths, accountancy, business studies, economics and computer science for Classes 11 and 12. Students preparing for entrance exams usually take extra classes alongside.

Moving back to India from abroad

Many families come back to Kerala and other states from the Gulf, the UK or Australia, and the move often means a new board. A child moving from IGCSE or a British school into CBSE or the Kerala syllabus, or from CBSE into a state board, may find some topics taught earlier, some later and some not at all, and may need to pick up Malayalam or Hindi again.

The free assessment shows exactly where your child stands against the new syllabus. A teacher can then cover the missing topics before or after the move, and the Foundation programme can rebuild maths, English, Hindi or Malayalam step by step if there are bigger gaps.

Languages

We teach Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Arabic, Urdu and English, as well as French, Spanish and German. Hindi is often the subject that worries families in Kerala, and in CBSE schools in Tamil Nadu, where it is a second or third language. Where it helps, we match a teacher who speaks your home language.

How it works

  1. A free assessment. About 40 adaptive questions, guided live by a Qlive counsellor, with a report on what your child is strong at and the specific gaps.
  2. A matched teacher. Chosen for subject, board, class, your free times and, where it matters, language. A 45 minute demo class is available first if you want one.
  3. A fixed weekly slot. Classes are usually 60 minutes, live on Google Meet with the learning on Qlive Space, Qlive’s AI-powered, activity-based learning platform. Classes are recorded.
  4. A Student Success Partner. A person on your family’s side, whose job is your child reaching your goal, whether that is a board result or settling into a new board after a move. They bring in whatever is needed and are a message away in the Qlive Learn app.

Fees are set per student after the assessment, depending on subject, class, board and number of classes, and you are billed for classes actually taken. Families in India pay by UPI, Indian bank transfer or card.

India: questions parents ask

Which boards do your teachers cover in India?

CBSE, ICSE and ISC, and state boards including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra. We also teach IGCSE and IB for children in international schools. Tell us the school and class, and we match a teacher who teaches that syllabus.

What times are classes available in India?

Most families pick an evening slot after school, or a weekend morning, and some prefer early mornings. Tell us your free times and we match a teacher who is available then.

Can classes be on Saturday or Sunday?

Yes. Weekend classes are popular, especially for students in Class 9 to 12 whose weekdays are already full. Share your free times and we find a teacher who is available.

We are moving back to India from the Gulf. Can you help with the change of board?

Yes. Many Qlive families live in the Gulf, and moving back is a common reason they come to us. The free assessment shows where your child stands against the new syllabus, and a teacher can cover the topics the new board expects before or after the move.

How do we pay from India?

By UPI, Indian bank transfer or card. Fees are set per student after the free assessment and billed for classes actually taken.
